Outcome Threshold

Definition

  1. The level of outcome that is good enough according to societal goals (e.g. SDG targets) or ecological limits. The outcome threshold defines the acceptable range for the outcome. Performance outside of the acceptable range is negative or unsustainable. Performance within the acceptable range is positive or sustainable. Outcome thresholds can be set locally, nationally, or internationally. They should also represent the affected Stakeholder’s perspective, so Stakeholder feedback can be an important way to corroborate outcome thresholds, especially when they are not well established.
  2. Predetermined Outcome Levels that are required by a specific point in time for the Outcome Depth to be considered positive or negative performance.
  3. The minimum depth of change judged adequate to be material, between two points in time.
Outcome Thresholds = pre-determined Outcome Levels that are required by a specific point in time for the Outcome Depth to be considered positive or negative performance.
